Funny Lovely Solty

‘Solty’ is the name of a club. I belong to the club. It is a basketball club in University of Ryukyus. I will introduce it in this journal. In the first place, I belonged to basketball club when I was from elementary school to high school student. So I like to play basketball for a long time, however, since I entered this school, I haven’t played basketball. But my superior invited me to the club. She said me, “the club is so funny and enjoyable! Why don’t you join us? If you like to play basketball, you have to belong to us. And you will feel exciting. Moreover, this club is girls only, so you can play basketball freely and revealment.” I heard her words, my mind is decision to belong to the club. The best point was girls only. If boys belonged the club, I wouldn’t join in. Because the power is very different between boys and girls, girls are always disadvantage. Actually, solty starts at PM 7:30 on Tuesday but we gather past 8 o’clock. We have all Okinawan time but I like this looseness.
Solty was established previous seniors in University of Ryukyus. They were very activity girls and good at basketball player. In March, we took part in a basketball tournament. It is the first time to participate in the tournament. And our opponent was Itoman high school basketball team. They are powerful team in Okinawa high school basketball teams. Of course, we lost the game but I thought we were more excited than any other teams. I didn’t participate the game, however, I was very fun. After the game finished, we went to yakiniku to eat meat and end the game off with a party. Instead of not to drink beer and some kinds of alcohol, we ate amounts of meats. I was surprised to see quantity that they ate.
After we removed and previous senior graduated, the members of solty decreased. There are four new sophomores, five new juniors, no senior and a graduate student in solty club now. And sometimes, previous seniors come to solty. But the members of solty don’t always gather, we play basketball only 3 on 3. So we have to appeal solty to freshmen and other students in school. Recently, there are five or six persons to come to visit solty how we are active. And a freshman belongs to us. She is from Sizuoka prefecture and plays basketball there, so she is a good player. Surprisingly, she was born in the first year of Heisei. I thought it’s so young and I hope to increase freshmen more like her. And we, previous solty members, feel that we are young too. The mottos of solty are funny and lovely. Thus we hove to keep youth until we graduate solty.
